PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically compensate a printing position in going and returning direction scanning. SOLUTION: A D/A conversion trigger signal and a driving signal of jet from a timing controlling portion 9 is provided to a D/A converting portion 6 and a print head nozzle 11 through a delay circuit 18. Based on a signal of a head position detecting censor 15, time differences,Δtf andΔtb, between ideal timing positions of the beginning of the sensor output of going direction scanning and the ending of the censor output of returning direction scanning are measured. Based on these time differencesΔtf andΔtb, relative time gapΔtp between going and returning direction scanning is calculated. In the delay circuit 18, when the delay time at going direction scanning is 0 and the delay time at returning direction scanning isΔtp, the timing of D/A conversion trigger signal and the jet driving signal at returning direction scanning is delayed byΔtp.
