A method of making an elastic belt comprises the steps of disposing astride one end 1a of an elastic strip 1, Fig. 6, a connection element 2 having two leaves 3, 4, Fig. 3, foldable about a line 5, attaching the edges 2a of the element to the strip 1 at 6 adjacent its end 1a, disposing the connection element 2 astride the other end 1b of the strip and attaching the edges 2b of the element to the strip at 7 adjacent end 1b and turning the element to place its initially inward facing surface outermost and vice-versa to form a belt, Fig. 7. The connection element, which may have a trademark on its initially inner face, is preferably placed over the strip ends 1a, 1b so that the length 1 5 of each end projecting from the element is less than half the length of the fold-line 5. The element is stitched to ends la, 1b and after turning may be closed by stitching 8 by which the belt is attached to a garment. Multiple stitching may be used. The stitching at 6 and 7 is not visible after turning the element inside out. |
