PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording method whereby high quality recording can be performed even when image data having a size greater than that of a print buffer is recorded. SOLUTION: Image data is developed in the print buffer and the image data is checked by each raster, and then it is retrieved whether or not there is the image data that makes a full-line recording head to perform the recording by each raster. A partition of recording of the image data developed in the print buffer is set based on the retrieved result, and then the recording is performed on a long recording medium by using the image data until the set partition. The recorded image data is released therefrom and the next image data is developed in the released region of the print buffer. Until the recording of the image data is completed, the operations of the retrieving, setting, recording, and releasing are repeated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
