<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for grading seeds designed to accurately carry out grading of the various seeds. <P>SOLUTION: When the detection effective width is below the threshold value, the extraction of the modal luminance value is carried out with a controlling part. Furthermore, the controlling part then judges whether or not the modal luminance value is smaller than the luminance reference value. When the modal luminance value is smaller than the luminance reference value, the complexity is calculated with the controlling part using the calculated perimeter and area. The controlling part judges whether or not the calculated complexity is within the complexity reference range. When the calculated complexity is within the complexity reference range, the controlling part judges whether or not the seed length is within the length reference range. When the seed length is within the length reference range, the controlling part sends a command signal of suction indication to a suction apparatus for the grading.
