<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate drive circuit which can secure reliability by preventing a short circuit of an arm even if a power converter raises voltage and capacity. <P>SOLUTION: The power converter has an output part where one or more circuits of arms each comprising a pair of semiconductor switching elements 3 and 4 being connected in series and switched on or switched off complementarily are connected between the positive electrode and the negative electrode of a DC power source and gate drive circuits 1 and 2 which switch on or switch off the semiconductor switching elements 3 and 4 by the signal of an insulated control circuit. Herein, each gate drive circuit has an on state detection means which monitors the voltage between the collectors and the emitters of semiconductor switching elements 3 and 4 and detects the on state of the semiconductor switching elements 3 and 4, and a blocking means which outputs a block signal to block the on signal of its opposite semiconductor switching element constituting a counterpart when one of the semiconductor switching elements 3 and 4 is on. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
