<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EL display device and an EL display method that enable excellent image display by prescribing a power source sequence at display-ON/OFF time. <P>SOLUTION: When the power source is turned on, voltages other than the voltage PVDD of an anode line, the voltage PVSS of a cathode line, and an output control signal OEV2 are raised first, the PVDD and PVSS are raised next, and the OEV2 is raised finally. When the power source is turned off to the contrary, the OEV2, PVDD, PVSS, and other signal voltages are made fall in order.
