A process for the production of glycol esters of dicarboxylic acids comprises reacting in an organic solvent an olefine oxide, a dicarboxylic acid in the presence of ammonia or an ammonium salt of a carboxylic acid. In the examples bis-(#-hydroxyethyl)-terephthalate is prepared by reacting terephthalic acid with ethylene oxide in the presence of ammonium terephthalate as catalyst. |
