<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device in which no discharge trace of a liquid crystal material is produced, no heat is produced even when exposed to intense incident light and no active element is adversely affected by light reflection or by return light and of which the display quality is stable, an easy method for manufacturing the liquid crystal device and a projection display device provided with the liquid crystal device. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device has a liquid crystal material interposed between a pair of substrates and a pixel region provided with a plurality of active elements formed in a matrix on one substrate out of the pair of substrates, and is characterized in that the liquid crystal device is provided with a partition wall disposed between the pair of substrates and formed on a boundary region of the pixel region, a light shielding film composed of a metal film and disposed between the partition wall and the other substrate out of the pair of substrates on a position corresponding to the partition wall, and a liquid crystal material layer disposed in a recessed part formed of the partition wall. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
