PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner, discriminating individual suction heads to efficiently operate a motor-driven blower suitable for the suction heads according to the quantity of dust. SOLUTION: This vacuum cleaner includes: the motor-driven blower 2 for generating sucking air; a sucked air passage part connected to the motor-driven blower 2; two or more suction heads 20, 21 freely attached to and detached from the sucked air passage part and different in form; and a dust detection means 5 for detecting the dust on a surface to be cleaned, wherein according to the information discriminating the suction heads 20, 21 connected to the sucked air passage part and the information from the dust detection means 5, the power supplied to the motor-driven blower 2 is determined. Accordingly, it is possible to achieve the cleaner which can perform the operation of the motor-driven blower 2 suitable for the suction head and completely perform cleaning regardless of the type of the suction head while energy saving is achieved.
