A system and method for providing a verifiable credit report of a consumer is described. A consumer (110) arranges for a verifiable source (120) to provide credit terms pertaining to a credit agreement to a credit database (130). Information from the verifiable source (120) is sent to a creditor (150) for verification. The consumer makes regular payments to a payment processor (140). The payment processor (140) the reports payment information to the credit database (130) for comparison with corresponding credit terms and compliance data which may be provided to potential credit providers and/or traditional credit bureaus. Authorized subscribers (160) may access credit database (130) based on certain agreements.
