PURPOSE: A sheet separation and conveyance device is provided to improve the processing efficiency by executing a successive process without rejecting sheets when sheets are conveyed in an overlapped state. CONSTITUTION: A sheet separation and conveyance device(100) comprises a withdrawing part(31) withdrawing sheets onto a conveying path(101) by rotating in a state of coming in contact with sheets at the end of a piling direction; a conveyance part conveying sheets withdrawn on the conveying path; an overlapped sheet detection part detecting sheets conveyed in a state of being overlapped on the conveying path; a separation part installed to the conveying path of the lower side in the conveying direction from the overlapped sheet detection part to separate sheets conveyed in an overlapped state; and a control part stopping sheet withdrawal action in the withdrawing part if conveyance of sheets in an overlapped state is detected.
