PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation control device for a reciprocating compressor for improving the operating efficiency of the reciprocating compressor, by decreasing a surge current generated in the initial stages of application of power to the reciprocating compressor to decrease stroke in the initial stages of start of the reciprocating compressor. SOLUTION: The operation control device for a reciprocating compressor includes a surge current cut off means 200 connected with a motor M of the reciprocating compressor as a means for increasing inductance.
