CAST IRON, CAST IRON SLAB AND THEIR PRODUCTION METHODS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cast iron which is tough and excellent in workability without performing a heat treatment requiring large amounts of heat energy and time, a cast iron slab and production methods whereby these can be efficiently produced. SOLUTION: The cast iron comprises a component which becomes white cast iron and has spheroidal graphite or drawn graphite dispersed therein. The component which becomes the white cast iron has a composition satisfying the relations: (%C)≤4.3-(%Si)÷3 and C≥1.7%, by mass. In the cast iron, at least 50 pieces of spheroidal graphite are dispersed per 1 mm2, or the drawn graphite has a width of≤0.4 mm and a length of≤50 mm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
