It is an object of the present invention to provide a printing apparatus comprising a print media supplying section, wherein a user can reliably specify applicable print media on an information processing apparatus and the printing apparatus can reliably recognize the specification. Thus, the present invention provides the printing apparatus comprising print media supplying sections that can selectively supply different types of print media to the printing apparatus main body, storage section in which media information on plural types of print media are stored, determining section for determining print media that can be supplied by the print media supplying section, and communication section for reading, from the storage section, the media information corresponding to the print media determined by the determining section and transmitting the media information to the information processing apparatus.
