<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably provide an outer ring of a constant velocity joint having superior fatigue characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The outer ring of the constant velocity joint having a surface-hardened layer on the outer surface of a stem portion which works as a power transmission portion has a composition comprising 0.35-0.7 mass% C, 0.30-1.1 mass% Si, 0.2-2.0 mass% Mn, 0.005-0.25 mass% Al, 0.005-0.1 mass% Ti, 0.05-0.6 mass% Mo, 0.0003-0.006 mass% B, 0.06 mass% or less S, 0.02 mass% or less P, 0.2 mass% or less Cr and the balance Fe with unavoidable impurities; has a base metal structure having a bainite structure and/or a martensite structure, of which the total structure fraction is 10% or more; and has a former austenite grain size of 12μm or less through the whole thickness direction of the surface-hardened layer by induction hardening. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
