PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that further improvement is required for a conventional gear to reduce its friction against another gear at its tooth surface as a sliding contact portion. SOLUTION: This gear has a hard carbon film formed on at least a part of the tooth surface and it is combined with lubricant containing specific components. Thereby, a friction of the tooth surface is greatly decreased and the gear performs an excellent power transmission efficiency. The gear is suitable for a mechanism which has a number of gear meshing portions such as a planetary gear mechanism or a speed reduction mechanism, where it has the effects of further improving the power transmission efficiency.
