PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying device enabling a reduction in size, weight, and cost, enabling the easy assembly operation, dismantling operation, and separating pad replacement operation and enabling the secure supporting of a separating pad and a separating pad holder. SOLUTION: This paper carrying device comprises a paper feed roller 6 delivering a document into a carrying route and the separating pad 7 installed pressingly on the paper feed roller 6. The swing shaft 703 of the separating pad holder 70 on which the separating pad 7 is stuck is held by a shaft locking part 304 formed in a paper guide 3 forming the guide face of the carrying route and a locking cover 9 fitted to the paper guide 3 so as to be swingably installed on the paper guide 3.
