The motor vehicle body has a locking element (5) for the locking of a movable body element on the chassis. The body element, in the form of the bonnet, in the unlocked position of the locking element is movable between the closed and a partially open position in which it contacts a stop (22) on the chassis. The stop is movable between a safety position in which the bonnet contacts it in the partially open position, and an unlocked position in which it allows a movement of the bonnet beyond the partially open position.
