Method for receipt and sending of email by an email server that has a conversion module for converting between file formats. According to the method the server checks a data terminal that is accessing it to determine whether the terminal is able to process file formats attached to or associated with an email to be received. If it cannot, the conversion module is activated and the file format is converted to one that can be interpreted by the receiving data terminal.
