PURPOSE: A plasma display panel and a method for driving the same are provided to reduce the damage of driving circuit by driving the image data into a predetermined number of sub-fields when the vertical synchronization signal is inputted. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel includes a plasma display panel, a power device(600), a controller(200), an address electrode driving unit(300) and sustain(500) and scan electrode driving units(400). The power device generates the voltage required for each unit by receiving AC power. The controller outputs the image data as 0 gray level before inputting the vertical synchronization signal when the voltage required for the power supply device is supplied. The controller sequentially increases the number of sub-fields and represents the image data into N number of sub-fields when the vertical synchronization signal is inputted. The address electrode driving unit applies the voltage corresponding to the sub-field data outputted from the controller to the address electrode of the plasma panel. The sustain and scan electrode driving units apply the sustain voltage and the scan voltage corresponding to the sustain discharge information to the sustain electrode and the scan electrode. |
