PURPOSE: An automatic coin discriminating and sorting apparatus is provided to prevent coin jam by discriminating, counting, and sorting coins using plural punching members. CONSTITUTION: A coin path(21) slants to a bottom with a predetermined angle so that an inserted coin is rolled downward by gravity. An electric sensor(61) detects change of magnetic field due to the inserted coin. A controller determines the kind of the inserted coin using the change of magnetic field. A plurality of punching members(70) are implemented to be apart from one another on the coin path. The punching members are selectively operated by the discriminator to sort the coins based on the discriminated kind of the coin. A sensor(80) controls the operation timing of the punching members by detecting the passage of the coin. The sensor is implemented prior to the punching members and is apart from the punching members. The punching members and the sensor constitute a sorting member.
