PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using a silicon material capable of occluding/releasing lithium, preferably, provided with a sufficient charging/discharging cycle property even in the case of using LiPF6which is excellent in ion conductivity as electrolyte salt.

SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte battery uses the silicon material capable of occluding/releasing lithium as the negative electrode, and especially contains hexafluorophosphate anion as the electrolyte salt. The charging/discharging cycle property is dramatically improved by using the nonaqueous electrolyte containing a cyclic organic compound having an S=O bonding.
