PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance metal sheath superconductive wire capable of suppressing a crack of a metal sheath material and wire disconnection accompanying the crack. SOLUTION: In the metal sheath superconductive wire, a powder mold 3 made of magnesium diboride is filled in a first metallic conduit 1 and drawn to form a single core member 5, and many single core members 5 are inserted in a second metallic conduit 7 and drawn to form a multi-core member 9, and pure iron or pure nickel with oxygen impurity concentration not more than 0.005 wt% is used for the first and second metallic conduit.
