PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thumb-turn device preventing a thumb-turn from turning. SOLUTION: This thumb-turn device is provided with a set operating member 50 axially movable forward and backward relative to a thumb-turn shaft 12 and energized in a separating direction from the shaft 12; a knob 60 that can be engaged to rotate integrally with the operating member 50 which is inserted into the knob 60 movably forward and backward, and released from the engagement with the operating member 50 by pressing the operating member 50 in against the energizing force; a thumb-turn drum 20 holding the knob 60 rotatably but unmovably in an axial direction; an operating ring 30 rotatably held to the thumb-turn drum 20 and engaged with the thumb-turn drum 20; and a means for pressing the operating member 50 into the knob 60 to rotate the operating ring 30 relatively to the thumb-turn drum 20 to thereby release the engaged state of the thumb-turn drum 20 and operating ring 30 and also to release the engagement of the knob 60 and operating member 50, and maintaining the released state to idle the knob 60 relative to the operating member 50.
