PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sizing agent composition for paper excellent in high-speed printability, sizing degree and surface paper strength while suppressing remoistening adhesiveness of paper. SOLUTION: The composition comprises (A) a carboxy group-containing polyvinyl alcohol, (B) a polyvinyl alcohol selected from an acetoacetic acid ester group-containing polyvinyl alcohol, a diacetoneacrylamide group-containing polyvinyl alcohol and a polyvinyl alcohol containing aldehyde groups on the side chains and (C) a polyalkyleneimine. The composition, preferably, the component A and the component B in an amount of 5-100 pts. wt. and the component C in an amount of 1-30 pts. wt. based on 100 pts. wt. component A.
