FATTY ACID beta OXIDIZING MULTIFUNCTIONAL ENZYME COMPLEX CRYSTAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fatty acidβoxidizing multifunctional enzyme complex crystal which enables the evaluation of the reactivity of various substrates with a human fatty acidβoxidizing enzyme complex (TFP), the designing of a new substrate, and further the searches and evaluations of an activator and an inhibitor capable of directly controlling the function of the human TFP. SOLUTION: The crystal of a fatty acidβoxidizing enzyme complex (FOM) originated from Pseudomonas fragi was made and then subjected to an X-ray crystal structure analysis to clarify the three-dimensional structure of the complex. Further, the three-dimensional structure of the human fatty acidβoxidizing enzyme complex (TFP) was clarified by homology modeling. Thereby, the important basic structural information was obtained for the therapy of diseases related to the human fatty acidβoxidizing enzyme and the development of medicines.
