The circuit includes at least four switching devices comprising power transistors arranged in a bridge circuit, with a gas discharge lamp arranged in a shunt arm of the bridge. The gas discharge circuit is an integrated circuit and at least two of the switching devices include a sensor device that is integrated with them, to detect and control the switching states of the bridge circuit. The sensor may be an integrated transistor. An independent claim is included for a ballast circuit for a gas discharge lamp, and for a gas discharge lamp device.
