FIELD: mining industry. ^ SUBSTANCE: method includes determining level of liquid by measuring time of passing of sound impulse from well mouth to level of liquid with prior destruction of foam. For this certain amount of reagent is sprayed for foam destruction into behind-pipe space with possible maximal contact with foam, then spraying is stopped. Time of passing of sound pulse from mouth to liquid is determined no earlier than in 15 minutes after stopping of spraying. Spraying is performed under pressure, greater than gas pressure in behind-pipe space. As foam destruction reagent anti-foam agent for drill solutions "Triksan" can be used.
