<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which reduces bothersome user-authentication while retaining high reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus capable of performing a plurality of functions includes: severity level management means 651 and 652 which manage a severity level by adding one of two or more classification severity levels to at least a function or data stored in the image forming apparatus; use right authentication means 413 and 414 which receive input authentication data inputted by a user, in order to authenticate the use right of the user relative to the function or the data, and compare the input authentication data with authentication data registered in advance, thereby authenticating the use right of the user; and a selection means 412 which selects one of use right authentication means in accordance with the severity level added to the function or data selected by the user, and makes the use right authentication means to perform an authentication process. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
