PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology to restrain the rim part of a billet end part from being excessively heated, in an induction heating device of a billet using a solenoid coil. SOLUTION: Demagnetizing rings 119, 123 made of a conductive material are inserted in the inside of an induction heating coil 101 from its end part, and induction heating is carried out with the demagnetizing rings brought close to the end face of the billet in the induction heating coil 101. During induction heating, an induced current complying with Lenz's law flows in the demagnetizing rings 119, 123, an adjacent alternating magnetic field is weakened by an alternating magnetic field based on the induced current, and excessive heating in the end face rim part of the billet is eased.
