<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a package transfer apparatus which can surely perform a packet transfer processing even for a packet constituted by using a plurality of protocols. <P>SOLUTION: The package transfer apparatus includes a plurality of packet transfer processing means for performing the transfer processing of the packet received according to a protocol used in a layer 2 or a layer 3; and a memory for storing receiving processing responsible information for defining the package transfer processing means for performing the receiving processing of the packet based on a type of the protocol to which the received packet belongs, a header or the packet or a payload part.
