PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner in which laser light beams from a light source are made incident perpendicularly on the reflection surface of a polygonal mirror in a subscanning direction and are made incident on the polygonal mirror along an opposite direction in the light reflection path from the reflection surface of the polygonal mirror in a main scanning direction. SOLUTION: The optical scanner is provided with a light source 101, a collimator 102 which converges the light beams from the light source 101, a cylinder lens 104 which forms the light beams passed through the collimator lens 102 into a line, a beam splitter 120 which is used to reflect a portion of the light beams passed through the cylinder lens 104 and to pass a portion of the light beams, a polygonal mirror 105 which deflects the reflected light beams reflected by the beam splitter 120 and an Fθlens 107 which forms an image on a photoreceptor 109 from the deflected light beams from the polygonal mirror 105.
