PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new compound which can be used as an aprotonic polar solvent having high dissolution ability for highly polar electrolytes. SOLUTION: This new compound is bis(2,2,3,4,4,4-hexafluorobutyl) carbonate. The method for producing the bis(2,2,3,4,4,4-hexafluorobutyl) carbonate is characterized by reacting 2,2,3,4,4,4-hexafluoro-1-butanol with phosgene, trichloromethylchloroformate or bistrichloromethyl carbonate in the presence of a tertiary amine. The nonaqueous electrolytic solution comprising an electrolyte and a nonaqueous polar solvent is characterized by containing the bis(2,2,3,4,4,4-hexafluorobutyl) carbonate in an amount of≥5 mass % in the electrolytic solution.
