PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the treatment of overflowing mud by a surface-layer ditch for preventing the collapse of the surface-layer ditch by an auger excavator having to excavate a pit row. SOLUTION: The total volumes of the preceding and subsequent surface-layer ditches are equalized approximately to the whole quantity of the overflowing mud from preceding and subsequent predetermined pit rows. The depth of the preceding surface-layer ditch is shallowed so that the volume of the preceding surface-layer ditch is made smaller than the whole quantity of the overflowing mud from the preceding predetermined pit row. The depth of the subsequent surface layer ditch is set in the total depth of a depth, in which the whole quantity of the overflowing mud from the preceding predetermined pit row can be housed, and the depth in which the whole quantity of the overflowing mud from the subsequent predetermined pit row can be housed in cooperation with the preceding surface-layer ditch. In an overflowing-mud treating method in the creation of a soil-cement column wall, a preceding pit row is excavated first, cement milk is grouted to original-place soil and agitated and the overflowing mud is made to flow into the subsequent surface-layer ditch. In the overflowing-mud treating method, a subsequent pit row is excavated, cement milk is grouted to original-place soil and agitated, and the overflowing mud is made to flow into the preceding and subsequent surface-layer ditches.
