PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel washing device for a packaging material capable of avoiding causes for putrefactive odor and for damage to an incinerator by washing residue and seasoning deposited on the packaging material. SOLUTION: This washing device for the packaging material is provided with a charge opening 1a for charging the packaging material which packs a content and is shredded; a cylindrical treatment tank 25 which is communicated with the charge opening 1a and in which the packaging material is subjected to washing treatment; a large number of through holes 26a, 26d formed on the treatment tank 25; a discharge passage 50 formed on the treatment tank 25 and discharges the washed packaging material; a drive shaft 54 arranged in the treatment tank 25 and rotated/driven by a drive means 20; a plurality of rotation impellers 57-60 each having a base end fixed to the drive shaft 54 and a tip end positioned at an inner peripheral surface side of the treatment tank 25; washing brushes 65, 66, 69, 70 respectively fixed to these rotation impellers 57-60; and spraying nozzles 40, 41 for spraying washing water into the treatment tank 25.
