A recording device includes first to n-th recording means as recording means for recording an inputted broadcast content on a recording medium. For a recording reservation instructed by a user, which of the recording means is to be used for recording is automatically selected. Only when automatic selection cannot be performed, that is, when recording reservation has been performed for all the recording means at the time band in which a new recording reservation is to be made, a user is requested to select. Moreover, a recording reservation registered for certain recording means is automatically modified for registration of the recording reservation corresponding to another recording means. That is, from the recording reservation registration end to the recording execution start, the recording means to be allocated for the recording reservation is modified when necessary, so that allocation of the recording means is modified by reflecting the state of the other recording reservation after the reservation registration. Thus, the user can easily perform operation for realizing an appropriate reservation registration and management.
