<p>A parking aid for a vehicle comprises sensing means for determining the distance between said vehicle and a second vehicle and alert means for generating an alert signal to the driver of the second vehicle in dependence on the measured distance. The arrangement is such that the sensing means is not activated, thereby to measure the distance between the vehicles, until the second vehicle is within a predetermined threshold range. The alert signal may be varied in dependence on the distance between the vehicles.</p> |
