APPARATUS AND A METHOD FOR MONITORING TRAFFIC OF A REPEATER, PARTICULARLY FOR DETERMINING TRAFFIC OF THE REPEATER AND CALCULATING THE NUMBER OF CALLS PROVIDED FOR SERVICE BY THE REPEATER

PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for monitoring traffic of a repeater are provided to effectively install and manage a repeater by continuously monitoring the number of calls belonging to a repeater and recognizing the number of calls over time. CONSTITUTION: A duplexer(311) outputs a forward link signal received through the first antenna(310) to a coupler(312). The coupler(312) outputs the signal received from the duplexer(311) to an LNA(Low Noise Amplifier)(313) and splits a portion of the signal received from the duplexer(311) to output it to a traffic monitor(204). The LNA(313) amplifies the signal received from the coupler(312) and outputs it, while suppressing noise included in the signal. A filter(314) filers the signal received from the LNA(313) and outputs it. A PA(Power Amplifier)(315) amplifies the signal received from the filter(314) and outputs it. A duplexer(317) transmits the signal received from the PA(315) through the second antenna(318). The traffic monitor(204) generates a control signal for adjusting an output gain of the PA(315) in measuring traffic of a repeater, compares power values of Walsh code channels measured before the output gain is adjusted and power values of the Walsh code channels after the output gain is adjusted, and determines the number of Walsh code channels of which power has been changed by more than a certain threshold value, as the number of calls provided for service in the repeater.
