The machine has a magazine (2) in which the capsules are stacked, and a picker for removing the capsules one at a time from the magazine to transfer them to an extraction system (7). The picker is able to adopt at least two positions: one in which it receives the capsule from the magazine and a second in which it releases the capsule inside the extraction system as the latter closes round it. Once the capsule has been used, the picker removes it from the lower member (71) of the extraction system before it is replaced by a fresh capsule.
