A tobacco pipe has a smoke filter consisting of a plastic or ceramic mantle around a granular filling or porous filter material e.g. carbon granules. The filter chamber is conical and the porous filter material in the chamber takes the form of a truncated cone. The mantle outer face consists of or is clad with an absorptive paper.
