Wall to floor seal

Gaps between the floor 5 and wall 6 of a room are covered by a gasket or strip which has a first portion 3 adjacent the wall 6 and a second portion 4 adjacent the floor 5. A first aspect of the invention comprises a flexible strip, the first portion 3 of the strip being attached to the rear face of a skirting board 1 and the second portion 4 of the strip extending, in use, from the lower edge of the board 1 and underlying a floor covering 7 when installed. The strip may be attached to the board 1 by adhesive. A second aspect of the invention comprises a generally L-shaped gasket made of flexible sheet material located between the floor 5 and wall 6 of a room having a skirting board 1. The second portion 4 of the gasket comprising a base limb 4 extending along the floor 5 and the first portion 3 comprising a vertical limb 3 extending behind the skirting board 1. A method of sealing a room using such a gasket is also provided. A third aspect of the invention comprises a method of sealing at the junction of a wall 6 and floor 5 comprising attaching a folded self-adhesive strip to the wall 6 and allowing the strip to unfold so that the second portion 4 lies on the floor 5 and then installing a length of skirting board 1 against the wall 6.
