PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electronic musical instrument capable of more exactly detecting the chords intended by a player while shortening the time lag from the start of manipulation before the generation of playing tones. SOLUTION: When a second contact LwSW2 is turned on after a first contact LwSW1 is turned on (S222: YES), and if this turning on is a first on event at the second contact LwSW2 (S226: YES), chord detection is immediately carried out (S230) in accordance with the SW1 bit map SWIBMP indicating the first on/off state of the first contact even without the lapse of the key touch standby time ΔTon and the formation and sound production of the novel chord are carried out (S232, S234). The novel chord is generated without waiting for the lapse of the key touch standby time ΔTon and, therefore, the time lag is shortened. Even more, the chord detection is carried out in accordance with the SW1 bit map SWIBMP and, therefore, the chord intended by the player may be detected even when the key touch is not completed. |
