DETECTION OF RESIDUAL POWER IN SMART BATTERY USED IN LAPTOP COMPUTER IMMEDIATELY BEFORE COMPLETION OF DISCHARGE

PURPOSE: Provided is a process for detection of residual power in smart battery used in laptop computer at a point of just before completion of discharge V-CAPRST based on average discharge current until the point to efficiently prevent error of the detection. CONSTITUTION: The process comprises steps of counting discharging time(S11) when a battery completely recharged initiates discharging; determining discharging time counted until it reaches to pre-determined reference voltage(S12); estimating average discharge current value by dividing total capacity of the battery with the determined discharging time(S13); and determining residual power of the battery based on the estimated average discharge current value(S14). The fourth step is for detecting any battery residual power corresponding to the estimated average discharge value and the present temperature.
