The check valve (5,6) is for a breathing apparatus and comprises a valve seat (8) with a valve aperture (9). The seat locates in a vertical plane and a valve body (10) with the aid of a force is pressed against the seat. The valve body on one side is suspended around a shaft (11), above the valve seat via at least one arm which has an opening (14) for the shaft. The opening is shaped as a rectangular hole so that the shaft position in the hole, in connection with closing of the valve, is altered so that the valve body locates very tightly against the valve seat.
