1,130,606. Feeding webs. PARSONS & WHITTEMORE. 21 Oct., 1965 [23 Oct., 1964], No. 44691/65. Heading B6B. In a web-roll stand, pairs of arms 8 and 9 with pins 10 and 11 for engaging a web-roll core, are mounted on two parallel rods 6 and 7 fixed to a pair of flanges 4 and 5. The flanges are fixed to a shaft 3 wihch is rotatable via a crank 2 and a jack, so that a web-roll may be lifted from the inserting position to the unwinding position, as illustrated in Fig. 1 (not shown). The jack may be hydraulic or screw operated. Each arm is moved individually longitudinally of the rods 6 and 7 by a screw 17 or 18 driven by an electric motor 19 or 20 to adjust the arms to the width of the web-roll. Transverse registration is obtained by engaging a clutch 21 between the two screws 17 and 18 and rotating the two screws together in the same direction. |
