PURPOSE: An extract of Acer mono Max. leaf and phenolic compounds isolated therefrom are provided, which Acer mono Max. leaf extract and phenolic compounds isolated therefrom have improved hepatoprotective activity, so that they are useful for prevention and treatment of liver disease. CONSTITUTION: The composition for prevention and treatment of liver disease comprises the C1-4 alcohol extract of Acer mono Max. leaf, wherein the composition comprises n-hexane fraction, CHCl3 fraction, EtOAc fraction, n-BuOH fraction and water fraction of the alcohol extract of Acer mono Max. leaf. The composition for prevention and treatment of liver disease comprises a compound of formula (1) as an effective component, wherein R1 is hydrogen or optionally substituted aryl; R2 is hydrogen or OR11; R11 is hydrogen or rhamnose; and R3 is hydrogen or glucose. The composition for prevention and treatment of liver disease comprises a compound of formula (2) as an effective component, wherein R4 is hydrogen or apiose; and R5 and R6 are independently hydrogen or hydroxyl.
