SYSTEM AND A METHOD FOR PROTECTING A TURBOCHARGER, PROTECTING THE TURBOCHARGER THROUGH REDUCTION OF RPM OF A TURBINE

PURPOSE: A system and a method for protecting a turbocharger are provided to protect the turbocharger by lowering speed and load of a vehicle through artificial reduction of RPM(Revolutions Per Minute) of a turbine and warning a driver of excessive rise of the temperature of the turbocharger. CONSTITUTION: A system for protecting a turbocharger(40) comprises a temperature sensor(70) measuring the temperature of a turbine(T) of the turbocharger; an ECU(Electronic Control Unit,75) receiving the temperature of the temperature sensor and outputting a control signal; and an RPM reduction unit reducing RPM of the turbine according to the control signal of the ECU if the temperature of the turbine is over a predetermined value. A system for protecting the turbocharger includes a warning unit(77) producing a warning signal according to the control signal of the ECU when the temperature of the turbine is over the predetermined value.
