PURPOSE: A medicament composition for prevention and treatment of analgesic tolerance to morphine comprising berberine as an effective component is provided, which medicament composition contributes to maintain initial pain-relieving activity of morphine during the repeated administration period of morphine. CONSTITUTION: The medicament composition for prevention and treatment of analgesic tolerance to morphine comprises berberine as an effective component and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers, wherein the berberine is 7, 8, 13, 13a-tetrahydro- 9,10-dimethoxy-2,3-(methylenedioxy)berberium; the berberine is extracted from the root of Coptis japonica or cortex of Phellodendron amurense; LD50 of berberine is 90 mg/kg in rat; and the medicament composition is administered orally or through an injection.
