Hot pressed preliminary backing for tufted carpets

Backing material of tufted fabric is provided with a preliminary bonding layer of the material, pressing the fabric at increased temp., depositing a liquid bonding agent on the pressed backing and drying the product specifically at a temp. between 350-450 degrees C. This hot pressing of the tufted material reduces the capillarity of fabric backing and tufting yarns, so that amount of adhesive needed for applying second backing is considerably reduced.
