CHANNEL ALLOCATION APPARATUS AND ITS METHOD IN A MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM USING HARQ, PARTICULARLY FOR QUICKLY ALLOCATING AN HARQ CHANNEL

PURPOSE: A channel allocation apparatus and its method in a mobile communication system using an HARQ(Hybrid Automatic Retransmission reQuest) are provided to reduce a forward interference in allocating an HARQ channel and enhance the use efficiency of a forward authentication channel. CONSTITUTION: A mobile terminal transmits information(400), namely, R-REQCH(Reverse Request Channel), for requesting allocation of a reverse system capacity from a base station. Upon receipt of it, the base station generates information(410) for allocating an HARQ channel for reverse packet data transmission and transmits it through an F-GCH(Forward Grant Channel). The F-GCH includes a plurality of HARQ channel information allowing the mobile terminal to recognize about which one of the plurality of available HARQ channels is to be used, in addition to a maximum data transmission rate of the mobile terminal or TPR(Traffic to Pilot Ratio) information. For example, if three HARQ channels(420-440) can be simultaneously used, the plurality of HARQ channel information allows the mobile terminal to recognize how many HARQ channels are to be used or which HARQ channels are to be used. When the mobile terminal needs to transmit packet data in a reverse direction, it requests a reverse channel including characteristics of packet data to be transmitted and channel state information received by the mobile terminal. When the base station receives the reverse channel request, it checks the characteristics of the packet data, the channel state information and a reverse channel state, and if a reverse channel can be allocated, the base station transmits an authentication channel including information on each packet data transmission rate of one or more HARQ channels and the allocated channel.
